Taking the Pill Too Long?

Weight loss pills come with one vital requirement. To lose and maintain weight, you have to continue using them. Most of these pills stopped your cravings and the urges to binge eat – so it really helps in losing pounds. There are some that will decrease the fat absorption of the body, taking out all the excess fats out of the body – less fat equals less calories.

But what happens when one stops taking the pills? No more fat absorption and nothing to disguise the hunger. When you drink the pill, you cannot feel hunger, when you feel a little hungry, just drink water and the numbness will return. So when you take out the pill – we are back again to rely on to good old willpower – which by the way has not won much round yet in the fight.

Unless you have had a change of ways and created major changes in your lifestyle and eating habits, chances are, you will see your long-lost weight soon. So why stop? Would it not be better to continue taking the weight loss pills for maintenance? That should be the case if stopping the pills would mean gaining back the kilos. But that is not the case for some. In fact, majority of the users will stop after a year or two of their pill-popping ways.

It is reported that 6 out of 10 weight loss pill users stopped using the drug in a year and two more dropped out in about 2 years. What is the reason behind this? Why stop something that basically doing the hard work for you? Did it stop working? Did they reach their ideal weight and do not want to continue dropping pounds? Were the side effects of the pills too much to handle?

Common side effects are insomnia, nervousness and irritability for those hunger-suppressing pills. And diarrhea, cramps, gas and discomfort are for the fat inhibitors that controls the fat absorption of the body. But these are just minor side effects that would surely not turn off the user much. Who would choose comfort from being thin and lean? But the problem is, after a while, the pills are no longer working.

Weight loss pills are designed to work short-term and not ideal for long-term usage. Aside from the damage it will do to your liver, the pills would no longer work and you are back again to score one. The best way to use a pill is for a month or two to give you that push you need. It is always great to know that you are losing weight and that all your efforts are being rewarded. Taking pills is a good way to start losing weight. This will aid you in losing the first few pounds. To inspire you to continue doing what you are doing when you see your weight dropped off a few pounds.

Weight pills are great – but not a lifestyle. We must learn to make our diet our lifestyle to make it work because God must have calories so much that he made so many of them.
