Thinking about managing your bills? I can relate to the intricacies of organizing and managing household bills. Everything can go wrong if you don’t know how to do it properly. For beginners in the whole “save money on bills” thing, here are some good tips: • Some decide to use cash or their debit card instead of credit card to avoid getting into too much debt. This is a good move but you are missing on the rewards of the credit card. What you need to is use your credit card and earn the rewards. Make sure; however, that you pay your credit card before it’s due to avoid paying for the interest. • Start being conscious about your home. Turn off lights and faucets when not in use. Stop being negligent about electricity and water consumption at home. Also try using the internet’s VoIP, email or chat rather than phone when you want to make international call. • Don’t get tempted to use additional phone features that will still cost you something. Always make it a point to check your outgoing calls to ensure you are still on the minimum usage. • When you receive your bill, check it first before paying for it. Make sure there are no hidden charges. Also check for other additional charges that you shouldn’t be paying for. Don’t hesitate to call the company about the bill. It is your right to know what you are paying for. This will save you a lot. • Try using automatic bill payments or get a bill payment service to ensure you don’t miss a bill. Missing a bill means you have to pay for surcharges. Automatic bill payments and bill payment services are practically helpful for those who are forgetful and those who don’t have enough time for their household bills. • Spend some time checking your monthly budget and expenses. Record the bills that you paid for and then compare them with the old ones. Are you billed more now? If yes, you should identify the reason for the higher bill. Checking your bills will save you a lot money. You may not know it but you may already be paying too much on household bills because of your negligence. • After paying your bills, make sure you write “paid” on the bill. This will avoid confusion. You will be able to organize your bills if you do this.
